Unlike most of Metro Vancouver, Chilliwack is supplied from a groundwater aquifer. Mineral content in groundwater tends to be higher than in surface-sourced water, and that shows up over time as scale in tanks, on elements, and in fixture aerators. It is a maintenance consideration rather than a safety one, but it does shorten equipment life if it is ignored.
